Hi

so i have a website which was earlier on http version and most backlinks goes to http version only, recently i shifted site to https and i am building backlinks to https version

After i redirected http to https , the rankings are same, maybe very little difference, now should i build backlinks to http or https version? will the effect be same? or effect will be more if i build links directly to https version?

thanks in advance.

You should have your site HTTPS by default, as Google suggests HTTPS. As such it seems far more natural to build 99% of your links to HTTPS because that's what people will be copy/pasting from your site were they to share it.

Go with https , i am also building links to my site https version.

I think both are same. https is more secured than http mostly used in ecommerce sites.

I'd only backlink to www. rarely for anchor diversity but you want all the juice going to the https:// rather than some of it being lost in the redirect.

i would use // without the http or https as it work on both

I'd be building them to the https. There is apparently very little loss in equity when there is a redirect involved, but it is still a loss. The historic backlinks shouldn't pose much of an issue and this is a very common transition for most up to date sites. Also be sure to verify the new https version in Google Search Console and set it as your preferred domain.
