HI all,

I want to start creating two Android apps. I have an idea which is not available at the moment in the Android Market. This might be a good revenue source. But how would you go about creating Android apps? I have little experience in HTML/PHP.

No experience in Javascript/C++ or similar languages.

The basic Idea is that I want to have an app with selectable categories. Each category contains 4-5 icons which when clicked opens (in the app) the mobile website of the icon you click.

Anyone can get me started with a nice tip of how to create this.

You'd need to learn Java first. then head over to the android developer page. You could use Android app inventor, but the quality will be noticeably worse than an app you coded by hand.

The Andrioid market is becoming saturated with borderline useless applications designed to push ads, and even the average users have caught on. If you have a legitimate idea for an app go for it, but if you're just trying to make money from mobile users there are easier ways.
 
You dont need to learn the majority of java, but it would benefit you to know the language. You do need to downlad hava se, eclipse, and the android sdk to get started. Ideally you'd want to use xml to code your app. Search for some newbie ebooks on torrent sites, there are tons of them.

It's so fucking easy to make apps. I can make 4-5 a day.

Use mosync, you can use HTML5 an implement it.
 
You could do what I am doing and make a app front end that redirects to a website online - you would still need to make some error checking stuff just incase the internet cant be reached but thats fairly easy.

Also check out thenewboston for android development videos (search google for it.)

Oh and pro tip - try making android apps for blackberry (at the moment they have a promo to give every developer making an android app a free playbook)

Hello, I made my application android with dreamweaver android SDK and eclipse, just in HTML and Jquery search for "modelixir", if you need help PM :)

So you would not recommend the business model of producing a lot of apps and then taking the winners and developing them into good apps?

What apps do you consider useless on the market?
 
I think the main thing is not the usefulness of the application, but how much money can you make with it ;)
 
I am currently making $500+ per day from mobile apps. (See the attached file, this is what I made this month as of 10th of march (it's actually 8pm here, so it's less than 9.5 days.)

I can help you building your app, (actually I can build your app) and give you monetization ideas too.

I have an idea to make android apps. Just PM me if you want to talk.

Making apps is easy.... making good apps is the hard thing.

You can build them yourself... if you are into coding.
you need java... not javascript to make native apps.

You can use html5 and javascript with special libraries and make them also if you feel Java is too hard for you.

you can use automated app makers on the web. They make apps but like anything automated... you are limited in a way. And they run ads on your apps unless you pay them a certain amount of money.

Apps is the new money stream.

I made a post urging BHW to have an app section... but no one responded.

People are stuck doing the same old shit.... keyword...seo... links.. and adsense...
and earn $20 a day... and they are all happy and shit.

the real money is in apps...
some apps make over $100k a day.... yes ... a day.

so.... we need an app section.

Very interesting stuff! I think I'll take the time to learn to code cause ideas are ALWAYS hitting me, and I ain't going to give them to anyone :D
