Building an email list?

I've been seeing a lot of threads about email lists lately and how successful they are, so it's making me curious and I think I will venture into this for my first IM venture. How am I able to build an email list? I read things about solo ads, which is paying people to send out an email on their email lists, right? How can I get started in this?

I have a decent amount of money to invest in ($200). Could anyone point me in the right direction? It would be very appreciated.

Thing is I kind of want to do this without a website; however I heard of 90secondsqueezepage and might do that.

You can also use targeted fan pages and groups to gather a list.

i advice you to invest your 200$ on PPV like LeadImpact. my friend told me that he builted a good list on leadimpact.

the big guys build theirs lists with PPV traffic.

Be careful using LeadImpact right off the bat... You canblow thru a bunch of change very quickly if you do not know what you are doingon LI.

Instead, try this... Go to the Downloads section here onBHW. Find this report called "White Trash Traffic". Inside it are abunch of dirt cheap places that you can use to test your squeeze/landing pages.
Use the 90secondsqueeze to create your landing pages; justbe sure to test different headlines/bullet points.
Then use these "white trash" traffic sites todetermine the highest converting squeeze page.
Once you have a clear winner, THEN go to LI and startramping up.
LI traffic has converted well for me in the past. But it isan expensive playground to test in. Use these other, cheaper sites to discoveryour best converting squeeze pages; then head over to LI and ramp up...
