Building an Authority Website

This is a journey to build an authority website.

Simply put, my strategy is publish high quality content for a single or multiple keywords and create high quality backlinks. I'm currently focusing on organic traffic only and monetize my website through AdSense and Amazon.

What have I done so far?
  • Chose a broad niche
  • Got a new domain and created an appealing website
  • Set up AdSense ads
  • Published 2 articles (writing these articles is really time consuming)

At the moment I mainly use web 2.0s for backlinking but I want to start doing guest posts soon.

Current goal: 15'000 visitors a month (that's what's needed for buysellads.com and ezoic.com)
Status: 6'600 (which equals 220 a day)

Good to see you get started with this journey. I like that you selected some key metrics that aren't based around income measures directly. You are smart to recognize that as long as you are generating traffic to your site with high quality on-site content - you can then monetize that traffic appropriately.

This will be a very long journey OP but very much worth the wait. Keep on going at it and never give up! For the night is dark and full of terrors (just some random shitty quote from GoT).

Just dropped another 1'000+ word article. When I published it and read through it one last time, I realized that there's an opportinity to include some Amazon product recommendations. I'll work on this next.

Yesterday I had another peak in visitors, which was close to 300.

What metric are you looking at when you talk about traffic in general? Unique visitors, impressions or page views?
 
Sounds cool, I have tried this for many years sometimes it works and sometimes not... most often it require a lot more to generate traffic to an auth. site.. anyway will be following your development here.
 
Good luck with your journey. My experience shows that this type of thing takes a lot of time to reach its full potential and it's important not to give up too quickly when you don't see fast results. You need to know that this is an investment for the long run.
 
Just small update about last weeks traffic and earnings:

Page views: 1'700
Earnings: 7$
Articles: 3

Apart from adding content, I'm currently looking into getting a few nice expired Web 2.0s. It's more difficult than I expected, but I hope it's well worth the efforts.
