My writer is from upwork. She is rather good, but I then edit all articles myself as well to ensure quality.

Another post published. I have one scheduled for tomorrow, then one for every 2nd day thereafter for the next 14 days. These are all articles I would consider pillar articles. I will post more other content in between, but I'm pretty happy with my progress so far. All posts have decent on-page SEO, and should be able to get backlinks on their own merit. Nevertheless, I will be publishing guest posts and do some outreach to ensure they do when I feel there is enough content on my site to get started with this.

Hey mate interesting journey for sure. Using a whitehat/content approach is what I wanted to test too so I will definitely follow this!
Are you using social media to promote your content? To earn links you have to use social media in my opinion otherwise how are people supposed to even see your content if you have no traffic from the search engines. Cheers and good luck

Hi Phil, right now, I am just focussing on content. I do have social pages, but have not done much with them yet currently. As soon as my site will start to feel more populated, I will do some social marketing in an attempt to drive traffic. The main goal will always be to become ranked in search engines though, and I really believe it's possible, even without PBNs etc!

Contacted a few other sites in my niche. Right now just building relations. Might in the future ask for a guest post opportunity, but right now it's all about getting more known.

I had to step out yesterday because my wife was unfortunately submitted to hospital. Luckily she's okay, and she's probably getting discharged again today or tomorrow. This has obviously stopped me from doing any work yesterday, so I have a lot still to do the next few days. To make matters worse, I'll be doing longer shifts the upcoming week(sun-thu), so my progress will be slightly slower.
I have plenty to get on with though: I still have a 4000 word article from yesterday to finish up. Also received another 7000 words yesterday afternoon.

My main concern about hiring writers is that the articles might seem to be generic, or without any real power or 'authority' behind them.
When I'm searching for information online, most of the results I click on have these vague and superficial articles that make me click the "BACK" button and I go on and on until I find something of substance.
The thing is, is that these high ranking, 'authority' sites like wikihow and ehow and livestrong etc. are all useless or almost useless in terms of giving quality information to the surfer. BUT, they do rank high and probably make good money. I can't see though how they build followings so that they get repeat visitors.
Then there are sites that are created by people who are passionate about what they are doing and usually rank 7th or 11th etc. as they have great content but less budget than those other sites.
So my question is, what in your opinion is an authority site, and what type of site (from the 2 I just described) are you trying to build?
