Building a static site, use html or WordPress?

I'm getting ready to build a new website for a product I am launching. The site will be about 10 pages which will almost never change, maybe a small update every now and then.

I use to use FrontPage to build all my sites, but I have only been building WP blogs for about the last year. I can build this site with either. I do like the widgets in WP, it makes updating every page a lot easier. I also know that html pages load faster then blogs and require less server resources. I am using an aluminum reseller with HostGator.

I'm leaning towards html/php with php includes for sitewide updates to navigation bars.

Anyone have any opinions?

I'd go with the html for the flexibility. Unless you need new content regularly, which is the main advantage of a blog, html would offer more choices.

I, on the other hand, like wordpress. It could be because I use it more, but I think that the SEO plugin and the newer versions are easier to work with than HTML. It also gives you a built in rss feed, making it easier to promote.

I don't build or modify templates (I choose not to spend the time), there are way too many free templates out there, and I have always managed to find one that works for me.

html is probably best because it's very flexible and you can design a much better looking template (or outsource one cheaper) and since you're not going to make a lot of changes its ok too.
but drop that frontpage thingy and get dreamweaver, with the dw site manager you can make includes or batch changes very quickly.

If I were you I would go with html/php. If you do that it won't be hard to edit the site later on if you change your mind. Because you can just use a php include to include your footer and header. Than you don't need to change every page in order to modify the look of your site.

I'd recommend using HTML (frontpage since you know it) since your building this for yourself and content management is not an issue. The only exception to that the google tends to rank wp higher.

I'd do both, you can setup a basic wordpress blog for what you're describing in what? an hour or two? As long as you have the content already created....do both and experiment and see what you prefer/loads faster/is more functional? or you could ask your customers?
