Is there a CMS that i can install on my server and use it to create a mobile site that will display if a browser is viewing on a mobile device?

i use hostgator and disnt see anything in fantastico. so far i have come across a lot of 3rd part hosting services, but i cant find anything self hosted.

i would like to install the script on a subdomain or folder. login like wordpress or something similar. build the site. script will auto detect the user and forward to the mobile site if viewed in a mobile device. done

wordpress has some mobile themes.
Then just detect the user agent (web browser) and redirect.

maybe a noob question but how do i detect the user agent? what do i use to do that?

I was gonna say... there are wordpress plugins for this... all you need to do is to install, plug and play - and away you go..

There's no need for you to do any subdomains and stuff.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Just do a search for mobile plugins in wordpress "extend" version.

I use mobilepress plugin/theme with wordpress. It is not the prettiest of the available themes but google seems to like it better. So if google serps are important to you then mobilepress is the way to go in my experience.
