"BUG IN PAYPAL"--A Scam?

Hi Guys,

I am the member of Orkut.com and in that 'A Paypal Community", today i saw a post there, read it but didn't tried it as i feel this is completely a scam but my curious mind want to know if anyone here tried this??..So, the post is:-

BUG IN PAYPAL! DOUBLE YOUR BALANCE
paypal has a major bug which could be put to user's profit very easily.

here i'll explain how:-

You need a web browser which hides ip address with paypal server. you can try unique web browser or paybug web browser..


unique web browser download :-


okkay. now i assume you have download unique or paybug... its very small (100kb)

next,

after you access your paypal from this web browser, you will see "edit profile" button.

dont click on it. right click anywhere on page, and see source.
search for "edit profile"
and see the link before "</a>" there
open that link in ur web browser.

you'll see some wierd page. like "asdf098)(*#JKdkj"
ignore it... scroll down a bit you'll see a line like "233paypal.servu=?,edito=prof"

below it, you'll see a number which is just of 4 digits. like "4382"

take that number. now, click on "edit profile" and put this number in the url box.

you'll see a text box. enter the current amout of ur paypal followed by "&edit"and then the new balance you want... example :-

200&edit400


NOTE THAT YOU ENTER THE NEW BALANCE EXACTLY DOUBLE OF THE PREVIOUS ONE. ELSE, YOUR ACCOUNT MAY BE SUSPENDED.

you cant do 0&edit200... coz double of 0 is 0... so, it should have some balance.... and DONT FORGET ... ENTER EXACTLY DOUBLE!!!

after that, click enter

it will show a blank screen. dont click on back or anywhere. SIMPLY CLOSE THE WEB BROWSER DIRECTLY. dont do anything else the modification will be cancelled. directly close.

now, open paypal again. you'll see your balance increased....

Yup, i have verified account in good standing so i can't take risk...Let's c who can try...

well its to risky, paypal may ban ur ass in no time if they discover whats hapening

if you try to steal several thousands you will need to risk several thousands, otherwise i dont see why to double just one hundred bucks

my advice: open a paypal account using vcc and see what hapens, this may be a goldmine or a direct pass to jail...

You know the worst part is no one of us can dare trying this. I am completely agree to Jayzee. Let's c if someone use vcc and try this stuff.

i hexed it a bit before running it, its a non working (or could be) paypal phisher (the program). Please close thread and remove link

i dont think this works i used an old dummy acct i created a while back. granted it was no money in it, but i think paypal has fixed this bug if there ever was one. went through the steps and use the browser he suggested and put the address from the script in. and it took me to a regular paypal screen. so i dont think this works

i was thinking it was something like that, thats why i didnt use my real account

its pretty obvious this isnt possible...the chances of paypal having a glitch in the basic build of a page like that? slim to zero.
