BST - No special signs in titles?

Maybe we could start "no special signs in new thread titles" rule.
BST section became unreadable and as one of the first people starting to use them back in the old times I would suggest creating new rule to stop usage of them. Before it has purpose but now its just visual spam.
If title is catchy enough - it will attract sales anyways. Majority of large forums implemented this already so maybe its good time for BHW?

i agree. people may think they're being clever by throwing extra stars n shit into their titles to draw attention, but if everybody starts doing it then the benefit gets neutralized and all you're left with is a ton of pointless visual clutter.

I also agree I hate to see things like that but when will this be effective and will the BST threads will be edited to apply this changes?

I wouldn't edit them - just introduce new rule to new threads only.
Most of old threads will die out anyways and remaining ones can still use special signs - it will be minority after 6 months.

I mumble-grumbled about this a while back, glad others agree.

There is an issue though. Even if someone doesn't use â˜… they can use * in its stead. How does this get mitigated, only Aa-Zz 0-9? What about different language characters? Only English? What if someone's selling a foreign language thing, they can't use one of those awesome n's with a ~ on top like a cool lil hat?

Well most forums handled this issue pretty well.

Simple limiting special signs to few major ones: ! ? , . - / + $

Also its mod decision - so this can be simple left to their own decision.
If they see spammy title - they wont approve the thread.
