Browsers problem. Need help

I hope im in the right place to post this. If not, mod pls transfer this in the right section.

Anyway, i need help with you guys regarding my new installed browsers mozilla and chrome. My cousin reformatted my laptop yesterday, and im now downloading browsers and other softwares. The problem is my mozilla freezes when i open new tab, and i cant even surf on chrome coz it wont load in any website. Ive been installing different versions already and it was the same. Anyone here know why this is happening? I really like this two browsers for my work. Right now im using Opera but its still really not the same with the two. Hope someone can help, i really appreciate it.

Can you confirm you're connected to the Internet prior to opening up any of your browsers?

If so, check the addons/extensions for both and make sure no newly installed software is installing some rubbish addon that is causing things to get wanky. I've seen this behavior countless times and it would make me wanna pull me hair out until I started checking Firefox's extensions and Chrome's addons. It was usually some silly search toolbar mate.

Yes, im connected with the internet.

Ive removed the extensions already in firefox and i dont have any extensions in chrome. But the result still the same.
