Anyone try to scale broken link building? I figured I could pull sites and scrape for broken links. But didn't know how feasible this was in terms of a large scale. Anyone try it?

Yes, SEO Moz just released an article about this. You should check it :)

They are also offering a course which i don't think you'll need it if you have experience in linkbuilding.

Their article, below :) , i hope it helps.

Or you could find a webmaster in the same niche as yours as find broken links which are relevant to any of pages on your website.

e.g: a broken link to "best seo tools" then you could pm the webmaster stating that the link is broken and you have a better resource for "best seo tools" that you can replace the broken link with.

Of course, in the article only the concept is presented. From here you can make a technique which will work the best for your niche.
So if you do it on large scale, you can get some nice backlinks which are relevant to your niche.

Yes it is, but if you get a link from an aged article, with high PR that's way more stronger than building 10 or even 100 web 2.0s. Of course, there are many factors we should talk about.
But this method can be automated, so if you think about it. It's not THAT time consuming.

Definitely, we're in BHW ;) Everything must be automated once the process is ready.

Plug in Scrapebox and a mass email sender and start automating ;)

Here is what i normally do.
    1. I buy a few expired domains of my niche. I make sure that they have pre-exisitng many links.
    2. Now i look for the pages from where they have links. Now i email to owner of those website and i tell them that the given link is bad there and that could harm their site. I show them an url of my site that is absolutely perfect for the replacement of that link. If i request to 10 webmasters than 4 do the favor. 1 or 2 could even gift you some abuses but the technique is well worth if you are building an authority site and dont want any spam.

It's like contacting any webmaster for any link exchange, not just brokens. Takes too much time...
