Broadband issues, help a man in need!

Hello, I recently moved to a new apartment and came across some broadband/internet issues.

It all started with me noticing pretty massive lag spikes within mostly gaming but could even be told once in a while by just browsing. I decided to contact a local store whom are the providers of my broadband. He simply told me to use the 5GHz broadband instead of the 2.4Ghz. However, I noticed the wireless USB I use couldn't handle 5GHz so I just bought myself a new one for like 65$. Asus (USB-AC56) Dual-band Wireless-AC1300 USB 3.0 Wi-Fi Adapter. (link to it here)

So on my the 2.4GHz system this is my speed.

Working fine besides the heavy lag spikes once in awhile.

But as I bought my new Asus adapter I came across something really weird on ONLY THE 5GHz system. This became the internet speed.



I do pay for 100-100 and I live in quite a small apartment, according to my internet provider even wireless with 5GHz should give me 100-100. And yeah, the upload speed is correct, but the download is really messed up and the internet is terrible with 3.67mbps.

Does anyone have a single clue about the issue? Honestly I have no idea. I did contact my internet provider but shit as they are, they told me to like restart both computer and router etc.. Nothing useful.

Sounds more like a wireless quality problem than a internet connection problem tbh. I guess you already checked your signal strength. You got no way of connecting wired there then?

Well, I guess I'll have to try with wired, just sucky when I just bought a wireless usb for 65$.

can you test your internet with a rj45 wire please sometimes them wireless routers are shit in wireless mode...

Check/Update your USB drivers maybe.

What OS are you using? Win 10 can do funny stuff with wireless connections.

I finally got it to work, had to download some external driver called EDIMAX for it to work, now I just hope that EDIMAX is something legit, lol.
