Bringing a site back to life in the SERPs

I have a domain that I used to test some blackhat trackback spam, social networking spam, blog spam, etc with. I was on the first page of some keyword results, 2nd for most. It's been at least a year since I've done anything at all with the site, and my domain has dropped off the rankings entirely for most keywords. What are the things I need to do to get Google's eyes back on my site? Would you suggest continuing those blackhat techniques, or would those in Google's radar by now?

Also, I was watching a video about getting a neglected site back into the rankings and it said to make 10-15 pages of new content. I sell a ebook on my site, so I have a static number of pages. Am I supposed to write articles and create new pages for each article? I'm a little confused on that..

Thanks.

Try to get one-way links from high PR authority sites, build open linkwheels, submit articles to eza and goarticles, etc.

Could certainly add a blog and do a bit of posting there. That and some new content and backlinks and that should "get 'er done".
