Break a 301 redirect?

Hi all,
Want to hear your opinion on this;

Say domainAAAA.com (this domain is the one with major juice+DR+links etc) redirected to domain domainBBBB.com for a few years.

Now domainAAAA.com is "sold" and thus the 301 redirect is not existing anymore for DomainBBBB.com - what will happen with each domain?

1) DomainAAAA.com can be used for development and retain all the juice ?

2) DomainBBBB.com will lose it's juice from DomainAAAA and thus tank ? or drop in ranking?

Anyone have experience with this?

Appreciate any input.

You might be able to do it once and get away with it.

But yes, normally you'll lose ranking and never recover.

If years are in question, you might be lucky to keep BBB alive.

Chances that single link keep you alive after so many years are small to be honest.

But for DomainAAAA.com is the juice still there? - if you made a new site on this domain, would it be able to climb + rank alone on the massive juice (links, etc) -- I mean it has 301-redirected ("permanent redirect") juice to DomainBBBB.com for say a few years......

DomainBBBB.com might still survive because it would have gained other links and so on, but on paper, it would lose juice if DomainAAAA.com 301-redirect is "broken" and not sending over juice over anymore....

What do you guys think? Appreciate your input.

The usual practice is to redirect one URL to another. ... There are many options to do this, but in general, 301 redirects are preferred for both users and search engines. Provide 301 indicating that the browser and search engine robot pages have been permanently moved.

I was on page one for many keywords with domain B after redirecting domain A to it. Decided to not pay the 1$ hosting for my domain A so the 301 broke. Now my domain B is on page 10 . Don't make the same mistake I did.

I now paid the hosting and re-did the 301 redirect. Still waiting for rankings to go back.

If the 301 has been in place for years you will have some time before you see the drop. Good luck
