Hi guys,

today I watched a pretty interesting video on ted about branded currency. Here is it:

I know there was big hype about bitcoins, but this guy in the video has some good points. Specially the formulation of the problem or better to say of research question: should the government be in charge for money or not.
Social and economic scientist will have some work to do))
Or how do you like it: "bought drugs with bottles of Tide".

What do you think about branded currency? Will amazon coins reach Forex someday?

Nothing new about private currencies, even in times of state monopoly of currency - except that the technology has advanced.

The earliest industrialists (Robert Owen etc) paid their workers in company scrip, built villages and towns for them to live in and provided welfare and health services.

Coming around again....

yes, the difference is the "globality" and not "locality"

Branded currency has been around for decades some of them include:

Gift Cards
Casino chips
Tokens at a video game arcade
Some strip clubs have their own currency(instead of getting real $1 bills from a $100 bill you get their $1bills which can only be spent there, it prevents you from leaving the strip club and not spending all the $100)

I wouldnt bet on it. The Banksters will shut them down, if it jeopardizes their money in their pockets. But then again if the banksters make more money with it then they will back it. Money is controlled at the very top elite in the world, so I these are the guys telling us what they will accept or not accept.
