Do you prefer brandable names over keyword based ones when purchasing domains these days?

The answer is... it depends. Are you looking to resell them or what kind of sites/blogs are you planning to make?

I've been leaning more toward brandable names lately because they seem more adaptable over time. Do you still target largely brandable sites or ones with a lot of keywords?

Keywords are not constant. They change over time due to market trends. If you're looking for long term, then it's better to pick a brandable name. If you're just reselling within a few months, then keyword based domains will work great. However, the standard branding rules like short & memorable names should be followed for good resale value.

Domains are a very dynamic topic, in the sense that some work and some do not.
You need to have an eye for the ones that are good.

Hi Noahclarke,

I tend to think it’s less about preference and more about where demand shows up today. Keyword domains still work when intent is explicit and transactional, but that window is narrower than it used to be. Brandables have gained ground because they’re adaptable. They don’t lock a business into a single use case or channel.

I think brandable domains are good for big companies who are launching an entire brand and will spends years growing that brand. For smaller affiliate marketing sites or an an Amazon affiliate site I like WORD+KEYWORD.com eg. BestAirfryers.com
