I don't want to post my site here because I don't want to get into any more trouble, but if anyone is kind enough to give me advice, I'll PM it to you.

Anyway, I just launched my site. I didn't make any backlinks at all, except I put it in a forum signature on a comedian's board. But I wasn't removed for backlinking anyway. I got a notice in the webmaster saying I was manually penalized due to "thin content"... I just launched about 1-2 weeks before the penalty, and only acquired 95 unique hits.

The thing is, my site is designed to be a simple and user friendly way to search for a particular things. It isn't an affiliate site and has no outward links to anything, let alone any affiliate programs. I also have competitors that have been ranking high on google for 3+ years without any issues. I was wondering what could have happened?

Not really. I see nothing wrong with my site. I put in a restoration request in, and got this reply.

We received a reconsideration request from a site owner for *****/. We've reviewed your site and we believe that *****/ still violates our quality guidelines. In order to preserve the quality of our search engine, pages from *****/ may not appear or may not rank as highly in Google's search results, or may otherwise be considered to be less trustworthy than sites which follow the quality guidelines. For more specific information about the status of your site, visit the Manual Actions page in Webmaster Tools. From there, you may request reconsideration of your site again when you believe your site no longer violates the quality guidelines. If you have additional questions about how to resolve this issue, please see our Webmaster Help Forum.

I looked at their guidelines at their site, but I still don't see how it violates the quality guidelines. If someone can PM me so I can give you my website and you can give me advice, that would be MUCH appreciated.

Hmmm, that sucks! Google is screwing up it sounds like.

The only thing I could recommend is that you start a blog on your site. Just add an article every week or so and it should thicken up your site in the eyes of google. Just make sure the articles are complete garbage.

Don't care too much about that penalty. It will get lifted once they see your site gets popular.

Depends upon your site.
you might need to use real=canonical tags on some pages. (it happens with many sites)
your site structure may not be what google likes.

wait some time , if your site will have more content they may remove penalty.
you have only 2 posts so you can't pm anyone. send me a message through http://prab1996.com/contact
i am not a pro but may be able to help you. (send the penalty message with some info )

PM sent. Thanks for your help!

Sounds strange, but were you ranking anywhere before you received this message? Where do you rank now, if at all anywhere? Try submitting a recon request and see what happens.

Idk if you saw my follow up post but I did. And got denied. I wasn't even ranking to my knowledge it's a brand new site.

that site deserve a "thin" content penalty.
you have no content on site. add some content.

your competitors have tons of auto generated pages.
there are many mp3search scripts, get one.

I am running a script. And what do you mean? I do have a tton of auto generated pages. Haven't you checked out tthe home page?

Maybe Google is making the same mistake that people here are making and think from first glance that there's not much content. You should be happy about this though, because it means once you have more good content that lots of competition and riff-raff is gone from the SERPs.

I you have valid internal links the Google bots will find the pages within a site. Spidering a site is automatic if the links are valid.

You just answered your own question my friend. I'm guessing it's image heavy, with virtually zero text. And you're mad cause your competition does the same thing but ranks ahead of you, right? Well they have a 3 year head start. And they have a lot more backlinks than you and older links too right? And you want to beat them by also having an overly simple site with no text... nope, not gonna happen. So if you can't beat them at that game then beat them with more and better content. Sucks, but maybe redesign the site.
