My business partner bought yesterday a domain with a cool catchy name for our business.

We want to create a store with it.

Today I checked the domain and it looks like the domain was previous a PBN (like 1 year ago).

No archive.org content, no moz or majestic ranks, in google title xxxxxpbn and the default PBN title's and desciption.

36 pages are still indexed in google (last time updated 11 month ago.

Is this domain bad or can we still use it?

Check whether the domain received any manual penalty. It's unlikely though since the pages are still showing up on Google. Can you check whether the the homepage and all category pages are indexed? If there's no sign of a google penalty, in all probability you're good to go.

if you treat it like a brand it will act like a brand. Bring in low bounce natural traffic and boom!

Why someone will remove their domain from the PBN network? It could be penalty or they're out of business.
I actually don't prefer any domains like these personally :)

Seems like domain is penalized. When I use google shortener: this goo.gl shortlink has been disabled. It was found to be violating our Terms of Service. Click https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/terms/regional.html and https://goo.gl/policy.html for more information about our terms and policies respectively.

Move on and tell him/her to buy better next time.

Hope you didn't overpay on it ?

Leave as 404 for a month with open who is. It will start fresh

Just hassle if banned on third party sites so often not worth it

No, just registration fee.

We could try that but I think it's not worth the pain if we try to etablish a brand and got banned on other sites aswell.

This method is no longer working - it show almost every domain as penalized when you do it more than once (as try to shorten the URL, then do it again and its "penalized")

Just wonder brother then and cut your loses.

Have you tried sharing it as it is? Any of the major ones blocked it?

I know Facebook will log a 404 page

Yes but the first time if the domain is penalized shows that but sometimes go to the domain.
Its just a supposition

If it's showing up on Google, you should be fine. I would plug it into a tool called Majestic or SEMrush and see what happens. I use those to check site stats on a daily basis. Just tread lightly. It can be difficult to recover from a Google penalty, but I think you'll be fine.
