Brand Domain and Keyword Domain

I have site with a domain that is the brand name.

I got another domain that has the top keywords for the brand

my question is should I have that keyword domain forwarded to my brand domain

or

clone the site to my keyword domain?

I want it so the ranking for that keyword is high

Absolutely not. Now if you have the kw in the domain, probably you will not rank for that keyword, especially if you work around it in your website.

Since the new update Google is trying to rank more branded sites than the domain with target keywords in it.

Redirect it is not useful if it hasn't good metrics, however, it is risky if you have good metrics.

Also don't duplicate the content because it is risky too.

You should setup another blog not copied (if it has good metrics) and try to see if it rank for that keyword, and then send the traffic in a natural way, doing in post links with natural anchor text not exact matching the keyword you are trying to rank for.

if the top keywords domain gets any traffic, you can redirect it

Maybe you can create PBN with this domain.

I would create two different sites. Totally separate, different web host, different registrar, different registrant info, everything different as if you didn't even own both of them.
