Bounce Rate issue

I have an interesting (to me at least) issue. I'm still new to IM and experimenting to figure all this out. Along those lines, I have a website that I put up in August. It's a pretty terrible site with only 3 pages, but I have it ranking for enough keywords that I'm getting about 200 visits a day from organic search and am on track to make $800 from affiliate commissions from it this month.

I recently started learning about A/B testing and set up a Google Optimize test on it the other day measuring bounce rate. Before I set up the test, the site had an abysmal bounce rate of around 60% in Google analytics (I know I need something better, but I've only started making any money on this site in the past couple months).

The interesting thing about it is the day after I started the test, my bounce gate in Google analytics fell from hovering around 60% to single digits on both the variant and original versions.

Any idea what's going on? I don't think it's a coincidence, and where it's affecting both versions of the page, it's not the change I made to the variant.

Bounce rate is the rate of users that drop after visiting only one page of your website.

It can be easily fooled by doing a simple redirect to another url (like redirecting after closing a popup window).

Did you do any other changes that redirect your users during a visit?

Literally the only changes I have made to it in months is adding the code for Google optimize. The change I made in the variant is the background color of one page.

-Improve interlinking of these 3 pages
-try more interactive content and add images or videos as they increase user interest and juggle with the placement of videos
-If you can increase the number of pages and interlink your posts it will also help.
As bounce rate formula is this

bounce rate for single session with 1 page view is 100%
bounce rate for single session with 2 page view is 50%
bounce rate for single session with 3 page view is 25%
bounce rate for single session with 4 page view is 0%

formula = (1/page views)*100

so, i recommend session start with home page then go to other pages and then exit/end.
