Man I gotta say. On my lap top I have an SSD and an HDD. The programs I have on the SSD open noticeably faster than the ones on the HDD.
Someone could call bullshit on what I said there, but I really notice a difference on that at least.
Your eyes are not deceiving you, SSDs are extremely fast compared to spinning disk drives. Also, its a misconception some people have that an SSD only makes a difference to startup time (Which it does; typical startup time with spinning disk can be 1-3 minutes whereas typical startup time with an SSD can be 20-30 seconds) whereas in reality it also makes a massive difference to all activity on the computer from opening and using programs to browsing the Internet to transferring data.
The reason is that all computer activity involves the hard drive because all programs have to read and write data to the hard drive whether that is reading and writing the application files themselves, reading and writing temporary data or accessing swap data; and thats before you even talk about reading and writing the actual files and personal that you are working with.
With a spinning disk drive each individual file can be split up into multiple parts and spread across the platter inside of the hard drive and to access that one file the platter has to spin for the arm to reach each location where file fragments are stored. That process is slow. With an SSD the data is stored on a circuit board and the read writes tend to be 10x as fast because of that.
If you want to see the real world effect of this, right click on the task bar and click on task manager, then click on performance tab, then click on open resource monitor. Click on the disk tab. Check out the queue length graph for the main drive (Usually the C drive) and see what the disk queue is peaking at (the number at the top right) and what its averaging out at (Just look at the green spikes and troughs). The disk queue is a representation of how many tasks are in the queue waiting for the disk resources to become available. With a 1 disk system (No RAID) the disk queue should not be greater than 1, if it is then there is a bottleneck.
Almost every time that I have looked here when there is a spinning disk in place, this disk queue can be leaking at 5, 10 or sometimes 50 whilst the CPU and RAM are not being fully utilized and this is because a spinning disk is far slower than any other component in the system and so it simply creates a bottleneck. If you have an SSD drive on the other hand, you will very rarely see this number go above 1 and when you look at the graph data you will see that its not even hitting that peak either.
I would never install a spinning disk drive for anyone these days and in fact sometimes if I am working on a customers computer I'll install an SSD drive as a freebie because it makes the rest of the work so much faster and easier.

and my laptop case broke when i tried to open it, so no way to insert ssd
Agreed, laptops can be a pain to open up but normally you can find the service manuals online and then find the correct way of opening up the laptop. Also, you can get an SSD for a very low price these days and if you are working on your laptop, the time you save and your increase in productivity will pay for it over and over again.
