So I bought a domain with namecheap since it looked like a good cheap method.. but I just found out I can't transfer my domain for 60 days so I'm basically forced to use their hosting if I want to get my website up and running. You guys think it's worth it to pay the yearly fee of $47 for their Shared Hosting plan?

You can still edit your DNS and host the site elsewhere, you just can't transfer the domain.

Thanks guys :) I just changed the DNS server.. how long does this process usually take so I can begin working on my website?

24 hours tops, but usually it moves faster than that

Namecheap dns servers are very fast and propagates within minutes.

you can choose your host anywhere and only change your name server :) don't need to buy any hosting package from them

so you bought a hosting account with hostgator and pointed the DNS in namecheap to the NameServers that hostgator gave u right?

Has it worked yet? I've done this over and over and it usually in done within an hour or 2.

Even tho they say up to 2 days, If it isnt done within12 hours there may be something wrong

Yes that's exactly what I did. Its been 2 or 3 hours so far and it's still not propagated.. I'm being patient. Host Gator is telling me everything is fine but it just needs to be propagated

Just patch your hosts file and you can work on it in the meantime.

Use ipconfig /flushdns in ur cmd then open the site.

Namecheap is usually the fastest to dns changes so maybe clear the cache and try again?
