Botting to rank android app

Hello guys.
I came over an idea of using a bot (or a bot net, I suppose) to rank an app in G00gle Play results for certain keywords. Is it worth the efforts or am I talking about ancient technologies?
If latter, then what is the best way to improve GP search result? Let’s say my app is not bad at all, but at the moment it is shown at #30 or so when using core keywords. Of course it becomes unreachable for most users and does not improve much on its own.

I was wondering the same would love to know if anybody has any info to elaborate about it would be amazing!
