You're talking about a highly illegal activity. There are tons of way to make money from botnet, but is it really worth it for a few bucks and a few computer ?
My first guess & advice would be : Read some of the laws behind what you want to do. If you think it's worth it (I doubt it for 2K machines) then go on the deepweb, it's a more appropriate place to talk about this sort of thing.

Botnets make money all the time, look at Fiverr traffic and then some. I'd even go as far as saying that certain youtube providers (quite a few on here) are using botnets or traffic from botnet providers to push up views. Basically, if you got 2k computers with about 13+ usuable ips each you can make some decent cash either reselling either directly to another provider or offering a traffic service.

Botnets are not illegal to build?
I would of thought dropping something to a box, without their knowledge, to make it your zombie would break some law somewhere wouldn't it?

That's my point FatBoy - building isn't illegal as long as it stays in your sandpit. Deploy and we're into a different discussion.

When you say sandpit, I guess that does not involve spying people on the botnet?

I knew that . . . Otherwise, this thread would have been deleted earlier.
I only posted it as a "By-the-way" reminder for ALL. It was not directed
specifically toward you. Hope that clears things up for you. :)

I find that really poorly related to the thread

I'm not into the whole internet culture thing, but if I take that saying right then it's 100% related to this post. Who in their right mind talks about b-nets openly on a forum. Sure as Damien pointed out there's a huge technicality when it comes to the legalities of the subject, but still it is the internet after all.
