Dear madhatters, honest nan0 signing in.
I am thinking of a lucrative opportunity, that I may or may not pursue. I could pull it off technically but don't have the capital to test and scale this, and you need scale for it to have impact. It would work easiest on reddit, but could work on other socials as well. It is one of those ideas that is at the edge of moral compass, but is fun to entertain. And I always like to have feedback on ideas and write them out, it makes you a better thinker in general.
I took politics as a niche for entertainment purposes. And simply because that's where the idea really shines. But the method could also be used to manipulate the stock market or increase brand visibility and perceived value.
The idea is simple in it's foundation. It's a Sentiment Amplifier, or Propaganda Machine as you will, but instead of creating the propaganda you amplify what is already there. Since you aren't creating the propaganda yourself it's hard to track your pattern...
So let's get to it. Step one is scraping all posts and comments in a subreddit, facebook group, hashtag, youtube account or whatever. Then you do sentiment analysis on each post. Not the old school sentiment analysis, where you check if the emotion is positive or negative but a proper gpt-3.5-turbo one or claude haiku. You ask the AI to rate how beneficial this is for a political ideology and how good it is for the political party in question. If the sentiment is neutral to the political agenda skip the post, if it is negative for said ideology you downvote into oblivion and if it's positive you upvote it to uranus.
You could work either with curated lists of targeted channels or you could have a crawler for anything popular pass the output to a word filter and send the filtered results to your Ideology Amplifier. You could also have multiple steps in the AI-chain, your imagination is really the limit, although that would increase the costs to run the campaign.
The cool thing is, once it's built -or you've got an mvp- you could sell it over and over again to different political parties in different countries. Or to different companies who want to influence their perceived value on the stock exchange.
