Boosting Site PR With A Blog

Hi All,

Whats everyones thoughts on boosting site onsite PR with a blog?

I understand the more pages you have on your site the more PR you have to play with ( then direct onsite PR with internal linking structure).

But I see quite a bit of information here on back linking from other sites for PR but not much talk about internal linking structure and PR directing?

Is this because its not that effective?

And will adding a blog to add more content to the site (whether autoblog or otherwise) be effective as a PR boosting exercise or rankings?

Just build relevant quality backlinks of PR and you are good. Build em for different pages and do some interlinking. PR update is every couple of months or so.

Link building is the most important factor in gaining page rank.
So thats something you should definitely look into, if your going for page rank.

As for the internal blog.
It will make your site more important, having more pages indexed.
It also reduces ranking fluctuations when the algorithms change.
As a handy side affect, blogs tend to drive you traffic.
Never use an auto-blog on your main domain if you want to do long term seo for a company or product page.

As for the interlinking
You can interlink using a html sitemap, similar to what you can find below.
You could also use previous and next article links inside your blog.
If you want to learn more on interlinking then you could try googling: "silo structure"
A silo structure is a basic seo-technique, which is nice to have under your belt.

I agree with Crooker on the use of a simple sitemap for the internal linking and the silo structure. That said, there's so much you can do with backlinking that gives you much more bang for your buck, I would spend more time there.

In regards to the silo set up and site map structure for the blog, is this what Seo plug ins like Jeff Johnsons (and other WP Seo plugins) do automatically for you? (Im looking for time savers)

And based on what youve said, its most effective"results vs time expenditure on Seo'ing a project" is to just stick to basic onsite Seo ( if Im correct above, by using a plugin and focusing metas etc on keywords) then back linking to the sky?
