I'm shifting into a different direction professionally and would like to boost my skills section with endorsements. Approaching my contacts and directly asking them for endorsements seems like something I would like to avoid doing.

I was wondering, would you be interested in an exchanging skill endorsements?

Thanks

PM me your profile. Let's exchange, also anybody else thats interested you can contact me.

I'll hop on the PM train as well! Feel free to PM. I've Pm'd the last 5 people

Endorsements are pretty easy to get on Linkedin as people tend reciprocate.

Take some time to endorse your connections' skills and you will find a lot of them return the favour. The endorsement page is great for endorsing lots of people in a short time. It shows 4 people at a time with one skill for each person. Click 'endorse' and a new person populates the list.

Before you do that, make sure you housekeep your own skills list so that you are being endorsed for the skills you want to highlight.

You do have a good point, but that didn't really work in my case. It feels like you have to directly ask them or hope that someone will randomly click endorse in the linkedin popup.

After my reply yesterday I spent 5 minutes endorsing skills for connections of mine as I hadn't done it for ages and wanted to see how many endorsements I got in return.

I just checked now and I have almost 50 new endorsements. I am sure the majority of those will be reciprocations so it definitely works.

How many first level Linkedin connections do you have?

That's very interesting. I have just under 400 connections and after endorsing a great number of them, no one has reciprocated yet. Granted, lot of those connections are people I don't actually know. I'll try again today to see what happens.

I'm not sure what the reason would be in that case. I have never asked for endorsements but I just checked and in my top 10 skills list, the first 8 are all 99+, with the top skill over 300.

My Linkedin account is a genuine one, I joined in the first year and I have approaching 10,000 1st level connections. I have also been a very active user for many years. They could all be factors that have an impact for me.

For example, if I have 25x more connections than you it would make sense that I would have 25x the number of endorsements.

One thing you should do regardless of endorsements is grow your number of connections - Linkedin is more useful to you the larger your network is.

Ive worked hard on a tool that you might like.
