Books in Standard C

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a good books or an online resource for C. Doing it in college this year and our lecturers "hello world" example on page 1 doesn't even compile. I know how to do the hello world and plenty more anyway but if someone could give me a link I would be very grateful.

If you wanna do something with the Windows API, let's say effectively you'll want to get a copy of the Petzold. I have one of the first editions and it's a 1300-page thingy full of examples from the looping GUI concepts to hooks to a lot of other fun concepts to unleash the full power of Windows. For Linux, there's plenty of tutorials all over the web, really no need to buy anything. For console programming (io, processes, fork, pthreads) but I'd head to the GTK website to learn the GUI because unlike, let's say other interfaces it's the lean and mean almost K&R c paradigm. For Mac OS X unless you learn ObjC there's really not a lot of use for "practical" c, since a lot of the tools that leverage pure c are basically gcc ports. HTH!

and collect tutorial from lynda.

Try "The C Programming Language" by kernighan & Ritchie

The best ANSI C Book is for "The C Programming Language" by Kernighan & Ritchie. A useful book, I learned C with it and I Love it.
