Booking Affiliate Program Question

I wanted to sign up as an affiliate for the booking.com affiliate program, and i was planning on promoting my links on social media.

When i tried to signup, they said that they do not allow you to place links on websites you don't own (Instagram, Facebook etc).

After a bit of digging, i found this:

As a Booking.com Affiliate Partner, you are not allowed to use Booking.com products (including affiliate links) on websites that do not belong to you and/or websites that contain inappropriate or unlawful content of any sort including advertising banners.

If you implement our products on a privately owned website, you may also place links on your personal social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc)."


Can someone please explain to me what this means?

Pretty self explanatory.

You can only post on platforms you own. So your own website.

You can’t post on Facebook groups etc but if you own your own page on FB, you can post on that as well as your website
