Book Marking Query

I'm a little confused with regards to bookmarking....when you ping sites is it assuming your site is based around wordpress? does it even matter?what about a website built from eg Xsitepro can the normal bookmarkng software be used?

Yes you can bookmark any site with software or manually. And ping it, no matter what format - Wordpress, Xsitepro, Joomla,...ect.
