A few more questions:
When you're trying to use video to rank in search engines, do you have a generic news site?
My guess is that other then using an established site (as you said above) it would be pointless to try to rank with a new domain or a blogger blog (This being from personal experience having WAY outlinked the competition and not ranking), am I correct in saying that?
I found a video that was popular on facebook and myspace, searched youtube and there was nothing showing in the search (of that video being on youtube), then I posted it on youtube and immediately on the page where you first view your video, ALL the related videos were exactly the same video that I just posted. Does this happen often? How can you avoid wasting time when choosing a video to post?
Thank you!
I have a few entertainment / funny video websites which I upload or embed videos on.
Regarding new domain or blog, it all depends on the video and its competition. You might be able to rank well for a viral video just by building a few social bookmarks to your new site.
As far as the related videos, you do have to remember that if they are not appearing on the front page of youtube for the specific keywords, then those people are not adding good tags, descriptions, titles, etc.
Also, there will always be related videos regardless of what you add onto youtube, so I'd just ignore them.
Remember youtube gets 10's of millions of visitors per day.
