Bobbylove's Competitive Intelligence Techniques

First question from me to you:

What platform is your website built on to have a 100 Domain Authority?

And then we'll get to the other questions.

I don't think you are pretty much reading or grasping what i am saying.

I am refering to 25/100 and 68/100 from the opensiteexplorer you gave. It is the first item when a site is investigated. I don't understand where you came up with 100 Domain Authority. My site is PR7 (has 68/100 on ose).

In all honesty, I don't think a website with domain authority or pr or god knows what of 1000, 1 million or 10 million in Music area is going to up my site 1 notch that deals in finance area. I am a newbie, my reasoning might not apply to SE rules, so feel free to correct.

In all honesty, I also think that backlinking my english site that deals in finance on a korean or spanish website that deals in god knows what and has 50000 posts is going to do me any good. Search engines are not stupid, they would know there there is no legit way for someone to be on a blog with 50K posts. I think it is detrimental backlinking from such places. Then again, I am a newbie, my reasoning might be wrong. Feel free to correct.

Okay I finally have got what you are trying to say, however, you could have made it so much easier by being straightforward with the titles of them.

The first item that you see which is 25/100 is PAGE AUTHORITY, which means out of a potential 100 points, it has 25, which means WEAK.

Your 68/100 for PAGE AUTHORITY, means that you have 68 points out of 100, which is pretty decent, but can be better.

So now your question about how would a music website benefit your finance website?

The answer is simple. ANY Backlinks to your site will benefit your website in some shape or form.

This is how Google operates.

The more BACKLINKS you have, then the HIGHER your rankings for your keywords AND the HIGHER your Page & Domain Authority will be.

Since you are already on the first position for your keywords, then I don't understand why you would want to build more links to it. You mentioned that it is a PR 7, so therefore, just leave that site alone, and go build a new one if you want.

There's no point to go all out if you already Page Rank 7 AND First position on the first page.

The more BACKLINKS you have, then the HIGHER your rankings for your keywords AND the HIGHER your Page & Domain Authority will be.

Doesn't seem right to me. I am sure engines would penalize at some point. How realistic is it for a local painter to have 200K links to it???

Not if you would like to get 2nd position too. and 3rd.. 4th... 50th :)

Google is not going to penalize you for building tons of backlinks.

The worst that could happen if your domain is new / recent will be sandbox where your domain will not be in the top positions for your keywords for a few weeks or couple months.

If Google penalized for having tons of links, then competitors would just build tons of links to other sites and get them kicked out of the top 10.

This seems to be common argument.

But wouldn't you think google would factor in the development of SERP position of a site before kicking them out?

a)
Say for example... I am building a site, linking it steadily... moving up the ranks for 6 months.

And then one day I get 500K links to me from shody places. I think google would discard this considering your past history and just label them as an attempt to overthrow a competition.

On the other hand,

b)
I just built a carpenter site. Next day I get 500K links from shody places. I have no rank, I have nothing.

What do you think they would consider this as?

Google takes into account domain age, but they don't base it on how many backlinks that you have.

This is why if you buy aged domains then build lots of backlinks to them, then you should be fine.

Aged domains are 6 months+

I don't think there is any proof to this theory. I am sure they can take into account how many backlinks you have or had when there is fraud issue.

This seems also another inaccurate perception in SEO industry I believe. When there is an issue of fraud, google can very well take into issue what keyword this domain had a history on, or when they started that campaign.

At least this is what common logic would tell me.

I still don't think there is any way for a legitimate person to be on a blog with 50K posts on it.

Moreover, I believe most of these blogs, forums, etc. are invented by people selling various products for this very same reason (xrumer, etc) ... Hence they are flagged in google's system long long ago.

I strongly believe all these automated methods are detrimental to a site's ranking.

I don't know anything about SEO, but common logic most of the time prevails.

I am sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I learnt siteexplorer from you, and thanked you for it already. Myspace method would have been a try at least, but it does not seem to work.

actually, i'll let you two hash it out, but Google DOES IN FACT consider domain age. how do they consider it, ill leave that for you guys, but they do.
have you ever taken a domain name and put an empty blog on there and come back to it 2 years later?? and the stupid thing has a page rank of 2 ?!?! haha

You say:

I don't know anything about SEO, but common logic most of the time prevails.

And then try to decipher Google's Algorithm?

Google doesn't use common logic.

They base everything on the following, so don't think it's just ONE factor because it's not:

-Domain Age from when it was first registered
-Domain Age from when it was first indexed
-Domain Life Expectancy before expiration (If you buy 2-5 years up front before your domain expires)
-Number of backlinks
-Number of Gov / Edu backlinks
-Number of backlinks linking to your backlinks
-Your h1 Title tag
-Your h2 tags
-Your density for the targeted keyword on your page
-Your Page Rank
-Your plugins / html
-The overall competitors' backlinks theme (If you are in the adult industry, then spam is expected, but if you are in the finance industry, then you need a lot of edu / gov links)
-Number of posts / content on your domain
-How often is your content updated
-The extension of your domain (.com .net . org etc)
etc

There's literally like 150+ factors, but the MOST important are the following 3:

1)Your Domain Age
2)The Number Of Backlinks
3)The Keyword Being In Your Domain

I did ONE link exchange with a Page Authority of 67, and Domain Authority of 60, and I moved up 8 positions in Google overnight!

I went from 3rd page position 25-30 to 2nd page position 18-20 in ONE DAY!

bobbylove, you change my mind! You are my hero today!
Can you help me more:
- Did you put deep backlink or domain root backlink?
- Did you do other things or just "put ONE link exchange with a Page Authority of 67, and Domain Authority of 60" to make your site "moved up 8 positions in Google overnight! went from 3rd page position 25-30 to 2nd page position 18-20 in ONE DAY!"?
- So if you just put 1 link and it influenced some keyword ( 2 in this case), not 1, right?

Thanks!

another great share bobby. one of the few guys i read threads from.

I exchanged backlinks on homepages only.

I messaged 20+ high authority websites, and in the mean time one accepted, so we did a link exchange (which is the one I talked about in the original post), and I moved up 8 positions to secure 2nd page from 3rd.

I don't understand your question on the 1 link influencing.

Update: I've successfully exchanged links with a few more high authority websites, and have moved up 3-5 positions for my keywords that are on page 2.

In the next few days their rankings will get better because of site wide links.

I'm referring to the homepage so hxxp://example.com

I don't do inner deep linking to like the hxxp://example.com/some/dir

Both could have PR, but the one that always has the highest will be the homepage, so hxxp://example.com
