Online text chat with "Manny" right now. He says I can host multiple sites under one account at Bluehost. To me, this is crazy and earth-shattering news. Am I the last to know, or the 1st to report?

Anyways, if this is BIG NEWS to you, please let me know, otherwise I'm going to feel quite stupid.

Here's the incriminating evidence:

You are now talking to Manny M
How can I help you?
Manny M: Our current rates are 1 year = $84.30 ($6.95 per month = 30% discount)
2 years = $142.80 ($5.95 per month = 40% discount)
3 years = $178.20 ($4.95 per month = 50% discount)
Manny M: May I know your domain name, in case you decide to host with us, to show I helped you today.
You said: yes
You said: one moment
You said: http://www.highlyclassifiedinformation.lol/
You said: I have several other domains also
You said: do you give a "bulk discount" ?
You said: I have 5 or so
Manny M: Well you can host all of them under one account
You said: 1 active website, 1 in suspension at hostgator, and 3 domain names that are not hosted.
Manny M: Okay great, you can host them under one account
You said: so does 1 website X 3 years = 3 websites X 1 year = 54.95/month ?
Manny M: No all you would pay is for one hosting account
You said: ???
Manny M: and you would host all the domains under here
Manny M: under that one account
You said: So I can do multiple sites under one account?
Manny M: Correct :)
You said: NFW Is that standard industry practice or something unique to bluehost?
Manny M: Well I know its something we do here, I dont beleive its common practice
You said: I've never heard of it.
You said: Is there a limiit to the number of sites, or is the limit on how much data is on the Server, bandwidth limit, or what?
Manny M: Well its something we offer our clients to make sure we not only fit our customers budget, as well as keep customers happy
Manny M: There is a file count limit of 200,000 files
Manny M: so you can host as many sites as you can fit around that limit, other than that you have unlimited bandwidth
Manny M: Our customers donthave issues with running multiple sites under one account
Manny M: the only time i have seen an issue is when a customer has 10+ sites under one account
Manny M: or an excessively heavy site that is better suited for VPS or Dedicated hosting
You said: I understand. My sites are small and with low traffic
You said: no where near 200,000 file

Nothing to feel stupid about. Most webhosts allow that.

Even for Hostgator, you can easily host dozens of sites under one account.

Yeah, hopefully you haven't been purchasing a new hosting plan for each website you build. This is standard practice.

Multiple website/domains under 1 hosting account is almost in all hosting company as
long you did not exceed with the hosting file/space limit.. :)

sad to say, you should feel stupid...

Go over to hostgator and see that starting with their $6.36/mo plan you can host Unlimited Domains, disk space and bandwith. Standard offerings in the industry.

Yes this is standard practice. You add them in your CP as addon domains. Most hosts have unlimited addons.

Has anyone mentioned that this is standard practice and most hosts do this ;-)

This isn't Earth shattering news. Most webhosts allow that. On shared hosting too (except for Hatchling plan on Hostgator).

in other news, the sky is blue

I've lost count of the amount of websites I currently have hosted on one hosting account but probably 5 to 10. Like everyone else has said, this is standard for webhosts, hah.

How crazy, you saved me alot of money, have been buying seperate hosting acc for my domains at my provider. Thanks...god I feel stupid!

This is standard web hosting options. I use Bluehost too and i got 8 domains under one web hosting. Great deal! They also give you one free domain name and 30 days money back guaranteed.

Most hosting company provides this kind of thing which lets you host a lot of sites. I used bluehost before and I am running 4-5 sites with it. There's nothing wrong with that.

Wake up, even I provide unlimited webhosting. But there always limitations but not how many sites you can host but how much resources you can use, etc.

WELL ALL RIGHT !! WOOT !

I was feeling pretty low, having embarrassed myself in full view of everyone, and now it turns out I'm not the only one that didn't know you could host multiple websites under a single hosting account. I'm glad someone else got the benefit of my "stupid question". Just about made my morning, WOOT!
(no it does not take much to amuse me)

I think one reason for my erroneous understanding is that the Hostgator "Hatchling" plan only allows for one domain per hosting account (I just checked this.) So, if you are a newb and go straight to Hostgator, limit your focus to the cheapest package (which is the Hatchling), you might never find out that other services give you a better deal. Especially if your mindset in the very beginning is that you are just trying to get one site (my first) set up. At the time (last year) it never occurred to me that a year later I might own 8 Domain Names and want to get them ALL set up and online. So, maybe not so stupid. Anyways, glad this helped someone else, and hope it continues to inform new Members of basic and yet very critical information to the development of an Internet Marketer. Oh yeah, and thanks BHW for having made this "mistake" possible.

I remember the days before I figured this out. I was 18 and buying a hosting plan for each site. I felt the same way as you do now when I figured it out. Welcome to the club.
