Hi All,
Been lurking for a while and have learnt a lot from here. I think I owe more than a basic 'hello'...
Past
Been a member for a while. I joined after getting screwed over on ad pricing in the local rag for my painting biz. Decided that I would research online advertising. Stumbled upon Google Places then stumbled upon BHW whilst trying to figure out how to rank. My listing hit number 1 locally within the week.
1 BHW registration and bookmark later, I contacted a friend with a large landscaping concern and started doing his SEO for 'mates rates' and set about learning all I could.
I'm not sure he knew the risk he was taking (forgot to mention to him what a newbie I was) and it is a third gen family biz. From my end, pants were shat. 2 years and 38 page 1 kw's later (city of 4mill) he seems happy enough and I've decided to monetize what I learnt and quit painting - last month. No brainer, it pays better, is easier on my back and it is scalable.
NOW
Currently I am setting up my new offline biz and suddenly realize that, outside the core skills of ranking a site, I know f/all.
It was easy with 1 local biz, didn't bother with proxies in SB or rank tracking s/w. This can't continue. Trying to do kw research for new clients but now Google barely talks to me. Need to update my hillbilly (non existent) setup. Quickly.
If anyone can point me in the right direction re:What services do I need to scale up to multiple clients -
Monthly services so I can thrash Google: proxies, running apps like SB on hosted service etc.
Best board to post such questions?
FUTURE
No looking back. I'm committed to getting this thing up and profitable as quickly as possible.
Quit job + sold house + 4 kids = Totally focused.
Once that is done I'm looking - over time - to shift my earnings from offline to online. I'm no spring chicken and I'd like to be in a position to slow down in around 5 years. First part is non-negotiable, second is preference. Both pretty achievable I'd like to think.
Have purchased a couple of BHW services previously and expect to connect and transact with a number of you over the next few years now that I do this full-time.
See you on the boards,
Frank
tl,dr;
G'day
