Ok guys, I think this would sum it up.

You may have heard about the nuances of Blogger and WordPress, and you're wondering which platform is best for your blog. But does it really matter?

For me, Blogspot is just the same as wordpress. I ran the test to find out if blogspot get indexed or ranked in google serps or not. I posted five posts and sent those for indexing manually in search console. The blog is just three days old.

In the above image all three posts are indexed.
I also used allintitle to find out if the posts are shown that way or not.

Then I checked console impressions to see that are my posts visible to other guys or not. Here's the result. Keep in mind the posts got indexed just yesterday.

Result:
1. Blogspot is dead = Just a myth.
2. Blogspot doesn't rank = Just a myth.

I am going to buy a custom domain for my new blog and test some SEO stuff there. For those guys who are penniless, you guys should just start a blogspot and boost traffic from social media and other stuff. I am going to post 40 posts in this blog as those are already written, then I will leave this one. This one was just an experiment so you guys can see the site and stuff yourself. I don't mind if you guys pick a crumb or two.
It is merely a request that if you guys have a premium blogspot template, can you guys give me that? I'll be thankful. Suggest me some good blogspot templates too. Thanks.

First of all, indexed and ranked are 2 different things. Do Blogspot posts index? Sure! Do they rank? Barely...

Secondly, the reason you're seeing those posts "rank" is because you're probably checking them while you're logged into your google account(s) and google serves you results based on your history, search patterns, preferences, and god-knows how many other metrics.

To really see if your posts rank log out of your google account, and use a VPN (or even the incognito / private tab on your browser, I think that might work too) to connect to an IP address of the locale you're wanting to see these posts rank at, and then check the rankings. Now, the keyword you used in this test is a long tail keyword and at a first glance an easy one to rank too, so I think your posts might rank somewhere on pages 3-5 but I'm not sure cause I didn't check and didn't research the keyword anyway...

But if the keyword is not easy competition, I can bet that you won't see it on the 1st page.

And last but not least, blogspot will never be as good as wordpress (and that's me not really being a wordpress fan) simply because it doesn't have as many functionalities as WP. Please know, however that I'm referring to the self-hosted WP CMS, not to the one at wordpress.com

These being said, congrats on running the test! I love tests and case studies, even when they don't prove anything, so keep up the good work :)

The main differences between blogspot and wordpress.com is that you can install a cloaker in wordpress.com, but not in blogspot; at least not a good one.

Let's agree to disagree on some points.

1. I checked the SERPS manually by using https://www.google.com/?gl=us&near=Kansas&pws=0 on icognito mode.

2. Although all the other options are paid, People can easily bank on this one, if they wrote for underserved topics. All they have to do is buy a custom domain.

Hey man, don't overthink it.

I did rank a few articles on my blogspot site with a custom domain. The problem is that you can't scale it as everything has to be done without automation. You will burn out quickly with Blogspot.

On WordPress, you can automate almost anything with a plugin. You can even build a set-and-forget system that will make money on autopilot for ages. But on Blogspot, you can't do that. You can't even do much with the manual adding of code into the HTML template editor. It may break your theme (in my experience). Too much of hassles. Even the mobile URL slug (ends with /m?1 or something like that if I remember correctly) and post title slugs aren't suitable for SEO (because they have the shitty dates in them which is contrary to evergreen content)

Is blogspot worth it for starters? Yes, starters with just a few penies to shell out on domain name only.

I spent 7 years of my life blogging on Blogspot, earned a few 100 dollars per month or bimonthly (with AdSense and Moreniche health affiliate network combined, way before the YMYL that tanked many health site was introduced. It tanked my site too that it stopped ranking for its own brand name that, I had to sell the site later to someone with enough budget to do proper SEO, hosting setup and put it on WordPress and automate almost everything). See it for yourself with wayback machine if you want to test it out as a case study: neuroscientia.com

With such a creative and competitive domain name, it fits into mental health, neuroscience, brain booster/neurotropic affiliate products from Amazon and blah. I even made a few dollars off Amazon.

The site was sold for $499 with 500+ articles targeting low hanging fruits. Did they rank? Yes for 6 years. The 7th year the site tanked but was revived by the guy who bought it on a Facebook group, deal was closed through Epik escrow.

Was I happy? YES! I learnt... A lot. Many fails before tries. I got serious into real business in 2020, moved all my blogs and e-commerce sites to WordPress, learned many things, met amazing forward-thinking people on here and what not..

My point is, don't waste your time unless you got plenty of it and wouldn't mind the steeper learning curve.

No one cares about free web 2.0 blogs man. They're barely even useful as links, building a money site on those is just a waste of time. If someone can't afford a domain, they should forget about building a site. There's just no way around it.

P.S. your blog isn't ranking for either of those keywords. You're searching allintitle, that's not how you check rankings.

This is on point.

I don't use blogspot because it has so many limits based on my needs.

I still don't believe Blogspot post will rank in Google. Besides, blogspot has tons of limitation.

Thank you for posting this.

This should put to rest a lot of misconceptions about Blogger.com and Blogspot.

It still works.

The issue is the quality of the content that people post on Blogspot.

You have to understand that the reason why a lot of people are under the impression that Blogspot has a tough time getting indexed is because so many people abused Blogspot.

They would create software that automatically generates accounts and also posts to those accounts.

In fact, Blogger has destroyed and deleted whole networks of spam blogs.

But if you were to create a legit spot blog, not only will your post get indexed, but you stand an equal chance of getting traffic from Google.

Of course, it all depends on the quality of your content and what keywords you are targeting.

So thank you for putting this myth to rest.

Sure, Blogspot is dead if you plan to abuse it, but if you plan to use it the way it was intended to be used, it's as strong as ever.

Blogspot still works, and I can show you numerous large sites getting very high traffic on Blogspot without a custom domain - Blogspot easily handles million of visitors on your blogspot for free, but it has too many limits, and there is no way to scale with limitations.
