After a couple of years of ranking they always appear, random blogspot links - some relevant some which aren’t?

Why is this? Some of my competitors have 10’s of them! Do they help? Are they there for a purpose ie PBNS? Can some shed some light for me?

Those are automatically created links (completely harmless AND useless as they are to images and basically everyone have them) and in some cases they are like a decade old, just Ahrefs decided to crawl and show them recently (which is retarded, honestly).

If your competitor are below you in SERP I can conclude that kind of activity is not really helps them ;)

Another completely useless reply from you. Trying to show your signature much?

blogspot, .app .xyz and such kinds of spamming links have been appearing a lot within the last couple of years,
they do not have any kind of effect most of the time, just ignore them

This is called an ineffective seo strategy where people build a ton of links instead of focusing on targeting keywords.
And that makes me happy because I can rank easier.

I agree. Though if that's a super old and relevant blog it actually may give you a decent backlink.

I would imagine that blogspot spams would have zero benefit or penalty as Google already ignores them. However, I think it would be beneficial if you were to optimise your designated blogspot url - the one you can claim through GSC.
