Blogspot actually should even have some small advantage. Its your content, improve it, make it useful to the public, play with keywords.

I don't recommend blogspot for 500 original articles. You can get better results with a nice domain name and hosting.

Besides my blogs I have for my business, I have 2 personal blogspot blogs just for fun (since I like to write), and I would never recommend blogspot for trying to make money. I have experienced exactly the same type of problem as the OP with blogspot (OK I don't have 500 articles, I think just 100 - 200 on my biggest personal site, but same problem - very few clicks).
On the other hand, my business blogs that make money are on their own .com domain name at a web host, and the sites are getting found by search engines so much more easily.
There isn't anything more you can do on blogspot to make your articles get more clicks, or at least not anything that's going to make a big difference.
I didn't like to shell out $ at first either for paid hosting, but think about it this way: at least you have a decent chance to earn that $ back. With blogspot you will have almost zero chance of earning anything. Also, as SpezzNacci said, it's not a crazy amount to spend on domain and hosting per year when you put it into perspective. Find a cheap host, and it's probably going to cost the same as 1 - 2 coffees per month. Think of it as you're inputting coffee into making your blog run, if that helps! It's worth investing that into your business to give it a chance to make money, because it definitely won't with blogspot.
The lowest level of shared hosting at a cheap host is all you'll need, at least to begin with. You can always upgrade later within the same host if you need to.
I would also like to add, don't be tempted to find another free alternative to blogspot that uses a subdomain (e.g. one of the free site builders that gives you a name like yourname.theirdomainname.com). Those always index poorly. I've tried to set up stuff like that to build links to my money sites from those types of free sites, but it's never been successful for me because of basically the same problem as blogspot, so I stopped.
The good news is that I think that if you move your 500 articles over to your own domain on shared hosting, you'll soon see a lot more clicks very soon. Just be sure to delete them from your blogspot blog soon after you've safely moved them over, so as not to have duplicate content sitting around on the web. 500 articles is really a lot, and I'm impressed you've accomplished that.

500 articles on Blogspot... Are you serious? Man you should move to some real hosting and I recommend you wordpress.
BTW... Play with keywords, Use Low Competition and High Volume Keywords. Embed them in content naturally and always remember " The Content is King "

My funds are running low that's why I use blogspot to save money. I might just do the keyword research and SEO further more and lets see what happens

Well most of the articles are plagiarized anyways! I started making authentic articles yesterday and something is changing. I'll keep doing it and update here in a month. Plus my funds are running low so can't afford any expired domains or hosting and whatnot.

Blogspot began to have some serious ranking issues, so if you really want to dedicate yourself to blogging, I would recommend changing the platform, actually many bloggers have their WordPress sites where they post articles. Besides, you should also check keywords, rethink your advertising strategies to see what could be generally improved so that you can get more clicks.

Even WITHOUT ANY SKILLS, doing upvotes for reddit posts on microworkers will get you MINIMUM 50 cents a day. That's $15 a month. Way way more than what you need to buy a .com domain(less than $8 a YEAR) and a cheap shared hosting(1-2-3$ a month).
Even if those articles are of the lowest quality, you should get 33 clicks a DAY, not months.

If most of the articles are plagiarized then that would explain the problem. In that case, moving to a domain name and web host won't fix the issue. This is because if the originals are still elsewhere on the web, then search engines will recognize your ones as non-original and they will be low in search engine rankings.
Your strategy that you mentioned of making authentic articles will get you on the right track. Ideally, you want only your own original articles on your own domain name at a web host. Plagiarism will hurt your site in the long run. Hopefully you'll be able to get back on track soon

You can try blogger for your blog until you get a good traffic and then upgrade to premium hosting.

Your articles need to be original and your blog should be around a certain topic/niche. Make a proper plan about your blog in terms of what kind of content you're going to create, site structure, monetization etc.
As you're creating original content now, don't publish it on that old blog. Instead, create a new one and save the articles there as drafts. Don't publish them for now.
Then when you have a good number of articles let's say, about 50 then get a domain name for about $10/year or less and attach it to your blog. Follow this tutorial and also there are videos on YouTube on how to add custom domain on blogger. Then start publishing the content.
Add some pages (contact, privacy etc), install google analytics, add the blog on search console and let the content index. After the content is indexed, build some links. There are many link building tutorials here on BHW. After that, it may take at least 4-6 months before you start seeing good organic traffic. So be patient.
Next you can submit the blog to google news and also apply for AdSense. And don't stop creating new content.

You are wasting your time with blogspot, Google have stopped ranking it due to the high spam content over the years. Buy a $1 domain from namecheap and find free hosting if you limited with cash (there are hundreds you can find on google). It is best to build your own digital asset instead. Also another alternative is to find expired domain related to your niche. You can do a search on this forum for methods to find these expired domains.
