I made a blog on blogspot i only have about 5 unique post on it i wrote myself my question is blogspot good for traffic and monetizing? i don't have money for hosting atm. Do i need my domain for it to really become affective?

I have read around and built some back-links my self but I'm also thinking of buying back-links any recommendations on how many to buy at first?

Blogger is good but Wordpress is better. You need to be really careful while trying to monetize a blogger blog as they remove such blogs pretty quickly when noticed. I think some, but not all types of blog marketing is against the blogger TOS.

No, not really. It would be much better to get your own domain name, install wordpress and work from there. SEO for wordpress is very easy, much more so than a "normal" website.

The problem with not having your own domain is if you do choose to do a lot of work backlinking, etc, it will be a waste of time if they do decide to delete your blog.

Don't let these haters get you down, blogspot (and other free blog hosts that allow ads) is a great place to start. Blogger is a) free and b) an established, "trusted" domain and google loves it.

Blogger is also considerably easier on adsense than on other forms of advertising.

Use the money you make from blogger to get started on your own domains.

Well i want to auto blog in the future with multiple blogspots but i don't have the money for auto samurai right now. Also for when i do should each blogspot have a different email or is it safe to have them all managed my one account and us the same ad-sense for all of them.

I would disagree. Blogger is great, it's free. You can pay $10/year for a custom domain. It's free hosting. You can rank blogger blogs easily if you do whitehat seo. It's as good as it gets.

The SEO for wordpress is no easier than other websites.

It all requires the same work.

Exactly. There's this persistent myth that wordpress is some SEO powerhouse out of the box. The only things that make WP any good are that:

* it can autoupdate by itself
* it sends pings automatically
* there are plugins to easily get different functionality like sitemap building and lots of free themes

It's also a total hog, very resource inefficient and riddled with bugs and security holes. You still have to customize and optimize your theme. There are also some serious disadvantages to WP that you have to address eg. the extraneous pages and the duping of content through the various types of archive pages.

The plugin system actually sucks and if you want to dig deep then you have to start changing core files, which is a nightmare come upgrade time.

WP just happens to be an easy platform for non-technical users but it's no magic bullet.

Well I disagree with the last two lines.

I have personally found that SEO for wordpress is easier, due to the bunch of SEO plugins, the easy customization of themes, quick and fast built in editor......

Sure its no magic bullet...but i can do seo for a wordpress blog in half the time it takes to do it on a "normal" website.

Blogger really sucks. You have way less control over the on-page SEO which will hurt your rankings, and more importantly, Blogger bans EVERYTHING. They don't even give you a reason, they have bots who search for potentially "spammy" blogs and if they shut down your blog for no reason, you are not getting it back. Putting your income in the hands of unsympathizing bots is just plain stupid

If you really cant afford ten bucks per month for a hostgator account, set up a wordpress site on 000webhost. They aren't as good but they'll get you started and its easy to switch hosting accounts later on

Wordpress is much better in my opinion IF it is a hosted version that you have control over. The wealth of different plugins and even great BH plugins can't be beat. But if your looking for the free route to get you started I would use hub-pages. If you put god content and don't stuff your links to much they work pretty well. I have multiple multiple hubpages with aff links that are keyword optimized. And a great many of them are on the first page of google if not the top spot. DO THE RESEARCH !! its worth it . Use your time and smarts while you are broke and you will get there.

Plus blogger will ban your sites in no time flat if they catch wind of you trying to make money. There are to many shared hosting options that are cheap to waste your time building and optimizing a site that will get taken down.

well blogger isnt that bad if you go white or even grey-hat. the last time i did a project on blogger i got some good rankings for a medium difficulty keyword, i was ranking in the top 5 for that keyword but then i made the mistake of autoblogging on that blog and it got deleted. if you go white hat, blogger can rank like any other platform its all about links and on-page seo!

In my opinion blogger can be as powerful as WP if it is used correctly.

Blogger = Clean Unique Content Only.
WP = Whatever type of content you want, I guess.

I have had a blogger blog for 4 years that I update daily. It has over 1200 backlinks that I personal planted myself, no blasts, and the blog is on page 2 on Google for the 2nd most serched keyphrase in the niche. It gets between 900 and 1800 visits per month un-promoted. All visitors are purely organic. I know I could raise the visitors over 5k per month with advertising, or more.

I do not post spun material or copy anyone elses material. It all unique, written by me and is monetized with linkshare and adsense. I also offer a gig that makes me a little money with the blog as well.

Some folks firmly believe in WP, and when it comes to autoblogging, WP is king. But when it comes to natural blogging I think blogger wins hands down when it comes to indexing your posts in google. All my posts are indexed in less then 3 hours once published. Google loves blogger if the content is not copied. I tried to place copied content on this blog a couple of years ago, and out of the 4 I posted only 1 made it to google and it was on the last page of that keyword until I deleted the post.

So, it's a toss up I guess. It really depends on what you plan to do.

This depends on how you are trying to make money with the blog. I have had affiliate porgrams and adsense on my blog since 2007. No problems whatsoever. I have 3 ad slots for adsense and I randomly post different affiliate programs every other month or so.

The key to blogger when monetizing with Adsense is that you have to place and outbound link in your blog posts. Google will leave it alone as long as you have links leading away from the page and not have any suggestios on the page to click adsense ads.
