I don't see how IG could really do that very well as a pseudo-blog. People on IG are there mainly for the pics/images.
But youu can't add live links to the image description like you can with a blog post. It's not like FB, where you could use a FB fan page as a blog. But even with that, you still have no control over ads or layput like a regular blog.
The best way to use these social media platforms is to try and leverage what each platform allows you to do and then go from there. Just keep posting relevant pics/images for what you are wanting to do and be consistent.
I'm relatively new to IG, but I use IG mainly as lead generator. I try to post pics/images that will hopefully attract actual followers and if they like my stuff they'll maybe take a look at my profile and click on my 'live' link there and go to my LCP. More successful with this strategy than I was with trying to "sell" something on IG.
