My question is, if I have a blog product review site and the region is set to US and language to English, will it hurt me to offer some articles in other languages?

alternatively how does G, or any search engine, react to foreign language keywords? I would imagine them as being completely separate and having there own rank and search rate, but I just don't know.

    Thanks in advance.

For each group of visitors to G, foreign language sites and most foreign language content are not generally ranked, since they are not considered to be useful to people who don't speak those languages. If you have an 'international' site which is meant for a worldwide audience, you could completely localize it for each major language group of visitors, build separate sites, or just present the site for the whole world in English and/or a different language most appropriate.

Regarding individual articles being translated, don't forget that G wants people to use Chrome, which now offers to translate pages from foreign languages for the reader. My immediate thought for your reviews is to try using localized web 2.0, whatever site is popular in the language you are trying to publish in.

    I hope that makes sense.

I think I understand all that lol thanks. and yeah chrome translates just like google, poorly, but all auto translators do. They cant read context.

As for the sites one isn't really international but i believe it could still help pull some traffic in the US with an alternative language were available

if search engines worked that way.
