How many backlinks of well targeted PR 1-5 sites should it take to get consistent traffic? What kind of traffic (unique visitors) amount should be expected, in general, from that backlink number?

How long does it take you on a blog to make $1/day from Adsense? It has only been 4 weeks, but I am really frustrated.

I have 125 inlinks according to Yahoo. 125 index pages from Google. MSN has 30 indexed. Getting 5 uniques/day from Google/Yahoo/MSN total organic daily. They are spending an average of 1.5 min. on the site with ave. 2.5 pg views. Yet no adsense $$$.

StumbleUpon and Digg have brought 30 uniques each the last couple of days, but have a 95% bounce rate. No Adsense Clicks.

I have submitted my site to 50 General Directories. About to begin industry related directories next week. Using the ******** for blogs with relevant keywords for Disqus and others. Submitted and accepted 10 articles in Ezine. Getting 2 uniques/day from that with an 90% bounce rate and less than 5 sec. on the site average. No Adsense Clicks.

I am not even going to get into the whole online press release area. Not worth it yet.

BTW, I have 50 posts worth of content on the site. I was thinking of adding 100 more, but can't see putting in the time if I don't get some $$ from the blog.

Sorry for the vent. Any suggestions? And yes...I will use AC to save up cash for my shrink next time!

Don't look at backlinks just in terms of PR - Use compete.com and check out what kind of traffic they are getting. PR isn't all it's cracked up to me, it's not the end-all measure of a site's worth as a lot of people seem to think. I'm in the same situation as you but I'm being patient because I know it takes time, the organic will slowly but surely start to pour in.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I usually don't like to vent, but I am really impressed with how well people do in this forum and I am a competitor. $1/day should make me feel better! :)
Now if I understand you correctly, are you saying move the Adsense square underneath the title tag? I have a WP blog and have three (based on Google TOS) types. 200x90 Square in upper left corner with link text only (5 links). Then blog roll. (Short, 5 links) Then 160x200 Skyscraper on left rail and right rail.

Consider more about the placement of the in a proper and effective manner.
Include ads inside your articles. That will make ads clicked more often.
Place ads just under the title and another one in the middle. There is no point including them in lower part of the page.
Match the colour of the ads with the background colour.
Also match the font colour of the ads with the font colour of the article's font.

You can place those ads manually by placing the ad code in HTML editor. I am doing it that way.
Otherwise there are plugins for that. But I haven't try those.
I heard that adsense deluxe is a good plugin to do that. But I have no experience in using that.
Also there are lot of plugins other than that. Give a search in the plugins directory in wordpress. You will find lot of useful plugins.:)

Use one of your websites to sign up for adsense, then once you are accepted
    use it on your blog.

If you have you own website then just use that to sign up with. Once you are signed up you can use that adsense account on any and all your websites.

When you use WP for a single page type of site, I can add adsense to the page and post php files, and they show.
not that I am using WP as a blog style type of site, I have added adsense to those php files, but the adsense doesnt show.
where am I suppose to add the code.

And if I have 6 posts per page on my blog, wont this upset google because I will have more than 3 adsence block on any one page.

In effect I could have 6 ( one on each of the posts) and one or two in the sidebar.php.

    How does this work then??

Google wont be upset if you will have more than 3 adsense blocks on your site - Google will simply ban you for not following their terms of service.

If you're not skilled in php/html programming i suggest you to try some wordpress adsense plugins for example:
-WhyDoWork Adsense plugin ( formerly called Shylock adsense plugin)
    -Adsense Injection plugin
    -Ozh Who Sees Ads

You should check is_single(), is_page(), is_home() conditional statement wordpress functions on codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags

If you're a total newbie to wordpress and/or HTML i suggest you to start with some courses for example http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2006/08/23/wordpresscom-resources-for-beginners-and-video-too/

And remember, Google is your friend :)

I have 2 sites with the same wordpress theme and exatcly the same adsense placement. One of them is getting 20-40% CTR and the other one 0.5%. You must test, test and test. Change themes, change ads colors, placements nad find what works for your given niche.

If you want to earn with adsense forget social networks traffic. Digg and Stubleupon are savvy internet users, they wont click your adsense ads. You need search engine traffic.

How competetive are the keywords you are trying to rank for?
How many searches per month they get?
How targeted are your adsense ads to what are your visitors looking for?

You cant have quality content on your site to earn with adsense. Your content must be boring as fuck because you want them to get out of your site - hopefully through clicking adsense and not the BACK button. Your theme should be boring either with large blocks of boring text.

Read this blog if you want to have answers to all your answers about earning from adsense:
    http://makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com/

And check his blog layout, this is how it should look like: large adsense block above the fold and and a plenty of white space.
    His second blog http://makemoneyonlinegrizzly.com/

If you read them you will have all the information about earning money from Adsense.
    Hope that helps :)
