One thing that people should finally understand is, that there's day and night difference between different country extensions of Google. Try this with a .com in a non spammy niche and you get rekt. .de and every other country works significantly different.

Exactly, 100 was the minimum to show good a ROI at his could be.

And true, but surely this can just be replicated. As soon as I find a bunch of easy keywords I rank like 5 pages on it lol

Could you elaborate that why google is more forgiving with foreign domains?

Not with foreign domains rather than foreign Google(s). It's either because they do not care updating the algorithms there due to smaller markets. Or they tolerate shittier links there, because the amount of good sites you can get decent links from is smaller.
