These people have no clue what they are talking about, I've done it and ranked. This type of misinformation is the result of SEO Guru's & writers trying to keep market alive.
Like it'll die if people found this out anyways, it's really sadOh, and ALWAYS link back to the source with a summery that you wrote. Ever wonder why certain websites with "duplicate content" get linked to naturally? Linking to the source..

If you want to get away with placing duplicate content on your site, make sure you place it in
, and it is a good practice to include a link back to the original source of information. It shows the search engines that you're not a thief, as you're giving credit where credit is due.
Now, with this in mind, it is an EXCELLENT practice to add your own synopsis of the text you quoted. Original and quality content is key. Don't simply copy and paste, as an attempt to make your workload lighter.
It's always best, however, if you have 100% unique content on your site. Referencing another body of work (with a linkback to the source), is okay.

And imagine if you would have actually worked on it. That 100-200 would have been 1000-2000 or more. The truth rings once again.

Using duplicate content..idk man i think i would use it too. It makes sense, hes not saying copy and pasterino the article as a whole right onto your website, google wont know at first obviously they cannot read.
If you had an article i already put in my search and i come and see you ranking 2nd place for the exact article man i shutting you down man, shutting you down.
But if you change on page seo enough, it just comes out to be unique, because it is now unique.

To put it simply, if your site is full of content that exists elsewhere you won't rank.
Read up on Google Hummingbird.
Your site is exactly what Google is trying to destroy.
Also, some of you guys should keep in mind that a lot of bloggers—myself included—take it personally when someone "curates" our content. Don't use my content, period. I don't care if you link back to me. I don't need your crummy backlink. If you steal a bunch of my content or attempt to profit off of my copyright I will get you deindexed.
You are just trying to profit off of other people's hard work and your sites add little or no value to the Web.
Another thing, whether or not using other people's content works RIGHT NOW is irrelevant. Google's long-term goal is to eliminate the practice.

Try writing unique contents, if not, make yourself to face the consequences of google updates. Don't risk your website that earns you a living. With traffic from social media sites and unique content in over a course of time your website ll earn good sum of money for you.

Even if other people's content still works in some areas right now, it won't a year from now. Or two, or five or w/e. As long as Google is in charge unique content is the future.
I'm no fan boy, but I mean, it's pretty obvious.

Nah.. I'm making sure newbies to this forum don't think they HAVE to buy or write all of the content they want on there sites. And believe me, if I was trolling you'd know. The whole forum population would.
