It will be tough to rank, although you will get traffic from forums and social media sites, so you can take some good with some bad there

Articles Directories exist for exactly that reason. I never heard of anything taking manual action or even what that could mean. But I agree..

It will be tough to rank without solid unique content for a website. I suggest that you drive targeted traffic to your site with Facebook and Solo Ads. It is also important that you build a list on your niche. Do set up an opt-in form on the sidebar of your blog.

Why google have to rank you instead of the better and original one. Your website has no authority and no unique content. For me its not possible to rank. It might be if you put tons of link, but not for long. Lastly, organic traffic from search engines is best and most solid source man. Your content will not be shared if it's not interesting.

Authority is all about internal linking structure. Copied content, (Curated) being the proper term; are some of the best preforming sites in the SERPS if you're inter-linking using an authority methods.

Interesting. I just started a blog, basically for my own amusement, talking about premier league football and all that comes with it.
What im concerned about after seeing this thread is, how can my content be unique, for example my last post was about the premier league game tomorrow, Liverpool v Everton. Now, i give my thoughts on the game which will be unique but alot of my posts contain stats on the 2 teams and their recent games etc etc. which certainly wont be unique, that kind of info can be found on almost any sports site.
How can i talk about the premier league and keep it completely unique? I put quite alot of effort into this blog (my 1st) and planned on making it better and better but now i think im wasting my time. Money isnt my main goal. Ranking well so people can enjoy my views on football is pretty much my only goal right now. But i guess i'll never rank.
Its a never ending learning curve for me lol. Oh well

Your right, i read over the thread fully and have a better understanding now, linking back to the source is something i didn't put much thought into, i have done it but i probably haven't done it enough, will certainly do it at every opportunity from now on. Ok my journey continues. Thanks procam. I will take care to read more thoroughly from now on.

To give authors a little incentive to link back to you. Give them a more value by linking to their keyword through anchor text. They will be more likely to show some love.

What i said is if your website are already trusted by Google, duplicate content might able to rank. There're a lot of sites got copied from other sites which are more trusted by Search Engine.
For the new website with 100 percent duplicated content you have to admit that it will be much harder than brandable and fresh-content website... man
Your experiences might be different from others. But those you called them noob might be better than you in his work. They experienced differently.
Personally my website is ranked well in kw windows 8 themes and was sold on Flippa
I always move to bigger project.
and i always use unique contents, so they are working for me and always work for me. Witout few links they still got ranked by Google in long-tail search term after few months pass. Therefore, unique content is something working for me lol.
And i won't call you noob as you might better in what are you doing lol.
Just my 2cent here hehehehe XD.

There's a difference between "copying" content and "curating" content. You don't have to be trusted by a search engine to use other people's already indexed content. These are all things you where thought so you could make someone else wealthy. I've been doing this for 7 years, I've seen a brain washing pattern that doesn't need to be because there's enough $$$ to go around.
Original content is awesome but not all mighty like the saying (content is king), no! (Presentation) is the real winner. To put it in a term you'll know (On-page SEO) is king.

These people have no clue what they are talking about, I've done it and ranked. This type of misinformation is the result of SEO Guru's & writers trying to keep market alive.
Like it'll die if people found this out anyways, it's really sad
Haha, I write original content but I've also ranked sites with 100% scraped content - IT DOES WORK!
If you want to do it properly, credit the original source (big sites do it all the time). Include a link like "This article was first published on someoneelessite.com".

It's FINE to have a blog post like this. Something either IS unique or it isn't. It can't be 50% or 30% or whatever % unique.
So your post IS unique as you've written your own thoughts about the game and just included the stats.
You won't be punished for this by Google or anyone else.
