Blog without unique articles

Hey guys.

I'm building a blog but most of its articles will not be unique.
Around 95% of its articles will come from sources that most likely will be also source for other websites.
I'm planning to get most visits from social media, but my plan is to try to rank it and get visitors from searches.
Will this be a problem to rank it on Google or any other search engine??
What are the negative affects on SEO for websites with content that can be also found somewhere else?

Some time ago i started a blogspot blog using articles which has been posted on other blogs. I have done some rewriting on this articles and posted it. After 2 weeks my Blog was banned from Google Search.

So forget about posting not unique content. Or you have to rewrite 90% of the article.

You can do that but you will get visits only from social media.

Most of these articles are press releases, and news from news associations and outlets so I shouldn't change them.
If your articles not being unique was the sole reason of your ban from being banned from Google searches, why do we find so many blogs with articles that are not unique?
 
You'll be good if you are acting as a 3-party news source or some type of informational niche update site. I've done this in niches that where suitable and ranked well. I would add short quoted summaries in your post (in your own words) because that's what curated 3-party sources do.
 
hmm you will get traffic from social media but it will really hard to get ranking with duplicate content on search engine.
 
Don`t do this! Google will ban you after update. Better pay to someone to write an unique article. PM if you are interested.
 
At least use similar words do not copy/paste same article. I strongly recommend hire a freelancer writer to write unique articles because they are not expensive anymore.
 
You will be delisted from google most likely - as was my content aggregator. My advice. Set up a google plus page and use Hootsuite to autopost all of your articles to your google plus page. Google search will drop you, but every post will be indexed in google search (and stay) through your google plus page. Also, your articles will get indexed in 1-2 hours through the google plus page.

This is a problem I have with google. News aggregators are a good thing and save time surfing through all the crap on the net. Also, many bloggers would like to have their articles rerun on an aggregator as it gets them exposure (so long as they receive credit). But google treats these like they are spammers.
 
These people have no clue what they are talking about, I've done it and ranked. This type of misinformation is the result of SEO Guru's & writers trying to keep market alive.

Like it'll die if people found this out anyways, it's really sad :( Oh, and ALWAYS link back to the source with a summery that you wrote. Ever wonder why certain websites with "duplicate content" get linked to naturally? Linking to the source..

The jury is out! I've try it both ways and similar results.
 
I agree with the poster who said it is irrelevant, been doing it for years and ranked well. Just think about it, how do you define an original article?
 
Alright I have an alternative question. I'm currently writing an article on a particular subject which has to be well researched, and I'm basically rewriting a Wikipedia page, but sometimes I find I'll write pieces of a sentence the same. Will this lead me to an infraction with search engines in this case?

Also I have my own 300 word introduction and conclusion, it's just that the majority of the body, the factual information is mostly taken from other sources.
 
No sir, and the longer the post the better long-tail kws you rank for. I would just have multiple sources on the page with a short summery next to each source with a link back to them (the source).

Alright, cool. It's going to be a long one, probably around 10,000 words.
 
If you want to get technical, create a table of contents and add a bookmark anchor link to each page sources. Just like this link :) #12 talk about having juice in the SERPs..

Alright maybe I'll do that, guess a couple more hours of formatting for stronger authority wouldn't hurt hehe
 
It works fine if you provide a link to original source. I am posting like that on my blogspot blog for last 5 months and my blog's ranking increases consistently.
 
Even a self-populating blog w/o unique content can be very interesting to the surfers, if it's done in a right way. E.g.: http://www.manpinner.com/
 
Unfortunately, scraped content ranks just fine. There is a risk of a manual action later on down the line though. If you're also going for social traffic then you have both routes covered. Good luck.
