Blog structure for topical authority — /blog/ vs /service/blogs/

Hey SEO folks,


Quick question — which structure do you think works better for topical authority?


1️⃣ Keep all blogs under /blog/
2️⃣ Group related blogs under each service folder like /data-warehouse/blog-1/


Does putting topic blogs under their service folder help that main service page rank better, or not really worth the effort?

I've never tried it, but I have also never seen anyone doing it. Like, ever!

If you want to support the service page you can link to it from blog posts, no matter where those blog posts reside.... although they should obviously reside in the blog :)

yes, that's the traditional (and still correct) way of doing it...

Both strategies have advantages and disadvantages from an SEO perspective. While organizing blogs under service-specific folders can strengthen topical relevance for that service page, keeping all blogs under /blog/ centralizes content and increases overall domain authority. Putting related blogs under each service folder can help if you want to increase the authority of individual service pages, but it's not a panacea; internal linking and high-quality content are more important.
 
In most cases, keeping all posts under /blog/ is cleaner and easier to manage.
But if you’re building deep topical clusters around specific services, grouping them under /service/blog/ can strengthen internal relevance.
It really depends on how focused your content is — both can work if interlinking is done right.
 
I’d stick with /blog/ easier to scale and keeps things clean. Topical authority comes more from smart internal linking anyway ;) :cool:
