Never made a blog before (nevermind making money from it)

But what do people mean with long tailed phrases? and short tailed phrases? And how do they have affect on the adsense? Or.. something... Like how do they have an affect in general?

    Just one example,
    short tailed phrase: lose weight
long tailed phrase: how to lose weight quickly

Long tailed phrases usually, but not always, have less competetive than short tailed phrases.

In affiliate marketing, long tailed phrases will get you more targeted traffic or some one who likely to buy your product.

And where do you put those Long Tailed Phrases? In the articles that are in your blog?

    Oh and

    Lets say "Apple" has 33,900,000
    But, "apple 111222333" has 1,930

Or a Long Tail Phrase has to be a phrase which you can incorprt (sp?) into your article?

In your site name, description and the tags for your posts I believe... having apple 1111122222333 wouldn't be of use because who is going to search google for apple 11111111222333? If you're looking to "give-away" apple products try things like "free apple ipod giveaway" "free apple ipod raffle" "how to get a free apple ipod" ect... they will have less competition than "free ipod" or "ipod giveaway"

    Cheers,
    Will

But why don't you want to put

    "ipod giveaway" it has "309,000"

Which is large (I assume), but .. no point in competing?
