I was just wondering what do search engines prefer more, blog posts or forum threads? given that both blog and forum are from one domain.
e.g:
10 Travel Tips For Summer

Do search engines prefer one over the other?
The reason am asking is am noticing that forum threads rank very well for competitive keywords without much backlinks/PR
