blog ping - but no blog

are you talking about just a regular website? or sites like Squidoo or Hubpages? technically, pinging is just a way to notify the search engine's that you've made an update to your site and you want their spiders to crawl your site. so, although I have never tried it, pinging a website might get it indexed faster than without pinging it.

pinging a plain url definantly gets it noticed sooner, grab some proxies and ping random url's that u need indexed on ur site from a unique ip each day a couple times and they'll get indexed (thats assuming u cant just feed in links en mass)

Thanks guys. I was wondering if sending a few pings would help getting indexed faster. Appears so. Is there any downside? Spamming repercussions, etc.?
