I just wanted to get you guys' input on which you would go with.. I've been thinking of mixing in a few whitehat income streams along with my current blackhat ones, so I had an idea to start a blog or forum that will just be about random shit, where anyone can post about anything... I have alot of ppl already that are willing to post to get the seeds goin, and I will market it and push it using my acquired knowledge from my blackhat past, but I want it to be completely whitehat, but still generate some money from adsense perhaps. Anyway, my question to you guys would be, would you with a blog for this or a forum? Just wanted to get some input and ideas... thanks guys

Hi, I would tend to go forum as you will be able to build more of a community then with a blog. If (and that's a big if) the forum is successfull (Look at BHW for example) you will have tons of return visitors daily.

If you're able to get some people willing to post, go with a forum. Otherwise, I think blogging is the way to go. So a forum's for you! :) Good luck!

thanks guys, I appreciate the input.. yea, I'm pretty sure I can get a decent amount of return visitors.. Between myself and my sister for instance, who is a facebook whore with a shitload of friends.. lol.. she already agreed to push the site as well... hehe

I would go with a forum. Much easier to build up a good base of people.

You could always look at getting Forum Generator. It's one of the best scripts out there imo. It's like a "forum in a box". Set your keywords, user count, posts, and you're done. Monetize it and watch in awe as real users join the forum and start answering questions posted by the software.

you say that wahtever you have going is just going to be random?

in my opinion you wont be able to monetize that. like say there is an article on XBOX and someone is reading it while on the side is an ad for wrinkle lotion.... it is just too generic

i suggest choosing a niche, building a forum around it, then set up an autoblog that points to the forum

Also, obviously it's more about the niche then the backend driving the website. It would be a good idea to populate the forum with some posts from Yahoo answers or something like that just to get a few thousand (at least) posts in there.

I do not know about you but I do not hang around on forums with five members and twenty posts

that is an awesome idea, thanks for that.. and to callmelucid, yea i understand what ur sayin, but this forum is going to have a target demographic thats going to begin fueling it, and i was thinking i could selectively target that demographic for now and go from there...if that makes any sense at all.. idk.. input?

yea mds, i know what ur saying.. i might get a few posts going and then push it.. i have a friend that does whitehat seo, and he has a few socialnetworking accounts with like over 90k followers each. so when im ready, hes going to push it out on a tweet... that much exposure will show results no matter what... at least thats what im thinking... what do you guys think?

Sounds good; one thing (And I have been involved with *very large* site launches), before your friends send all their traffic you way make sure that your website is going to be able to handle the influx..

Nothing like seeing a "Server Unavailable" to spell the kiss of death for a new website.

i would go with blog... since i find it easier to monetize with blogs
